Serving on AOII's Leader's Council

Writer: AOIIAOII

Becoming a member of Alpha Omicron Pi comes with many amazing opportunities but having the honor to serve a chapter that means so much to me on our Leader’s Council is by far my greatest blessing. This year, I have had the pleasure of serving as AOII’s Social Chairman. As Social Chair, I get to plan semi formals and formals, mixers, socials, and many more exciting events. I have the opportunity to plan events that involve other organizations on campus. One of my favorite mixers from this past semester was our “Hometown Throwdown” mixer. Everyone dressed in their sports uniforms, theatre costumes, or any other attire that represented their high school. For the past two years we have hosted our Valentine’s Day Social which involves 3 other organizations. This allows for connections and friendships to be made not only within your own organization, but with members of other organizations as well.

While these events are so much fun, they also come with many hours of planning, phone calls to people you’ve never talked to before, and thinking of thousands of ideas until you find one that is just perfect. Serving on Leader’s Council has truly made my love and passion for AOII blossom even more, which I had no idea was even possible. Along with my position, there are seventeen other members of AOII’s Leader’s Council working tirelessly to ensure our chapter continues to run smoothly for the sisters that make our world go ‘round. Having a successful chapter requires us to work together and make sacrifices and I am extremely thankful to be part of an LC which lives that out daily. Whether it’s Briley staying up way after chapter is over to make sure headquarters is in the know, Ellie planning workshops six months before recruitment, or Cassidy and Taylor spending hours planning and changing everything a million times to make sure everything is perfect, there is nothing we would not do to keep each member happy. Every position has the best interest at heart for our precious sisters.

Even during this crazy and difficult time, our LC is working day in and day out to keep the bond we share strong. From baking and makeup tutorials to weekly devotions, we have continued to strive to keep this sisterhood and spirits alive.

Being on Leader’s Council has shown me just how important this sisterhood is. Watching my sisters and the rest of Greek like make the memories of a lifetime at the events I plan makes all the hard work so worth it. Alpha Omicron Pi brings me so much happiness and being able to give back by leading this chapter is something I will forever be grateful for.
